The relationship between metacognitive processes level in mathematics and general intelligence among tenth grade students at Hail District

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between metacognitive thinking in mathematics and general intelligence among tenth grade students and to examine whether this relationship was affected by: the level of academic achievement and gender. The sample of the study consisted of 130 students (66 males, 64 females) who were selected randomly from basic schools at Hail city. To achieve the purpose of the study the researcher used Metacognition Scale and Raven matrices test of intelligence, and they are used to measure the level of academic achievement rates of the first chapter in mathematics. The study was conducted in the academic year 2013/2014. The researcher used Excel 2007 and SPSS 19.0 programs to analyze the data, the results of the study showed that there is a statistically significant relationship at 0.01 between metacognitive thinking in mathematics and general intelligence among tenth grade students, the relationship between metacognitive thinking in mathematics and general intelligence was not significant according to gender or the level of academic achievement (high/low) variables among tenth grade students.
