Cross - cultural validity of the almost perfect scalerevised on the college students in the United States and Turkey

Abstract

Kamile Bahar Aydin

This study investigated the cultural validity of the almost perfect scale-revised (APS-R) with 300 Turkish and 300 American and international college students. First, the validity of the original APS-R was conducted on American students and international students. Hence, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) offered two-factor scale to be consistent with previous studies: High standards and discrepancy. Afterwards, the scale was translated from English to Turkish. For the Turkish sample, an EFA offered an evidence for three-factor scale: High standards, dissatisfaction, and discrepancy. The high standards is the only subscale similar to the original scale. Finally, the results were interpreted through concept of culture.
