Assessment and Analysis in Orthognathic Surgery: A Review Article

n its simplest definition ‘Orthognathic surgery’ refers to the ‘alignment of jaws’. Orthognathic” originates from the Greek words “Ortho” meaning to straight and “Gnatho” meaning jaw. It is possible to correct deformities separately in the midface or the mandible with many types of surgical techniques. Orthognathic Surgery is the art and science of diagnosis, treatment planning, and execution of treatment by combining orthodontics and oral & maxillofacial surgery to correct musculoskeletal, dento-osseous, and soft tissue deformities of the jaws and associated structures.
